Read in Gita Reader

Arjuna asks whether it is better to worship the personal God or the formless Brahman. Krishna says devotion to the personal God is easier. He then paints the portrait of the ideal devotee: one who hates no creature, is friendly and compassionate, free from ego, equal in pleasure and pain, forgiving, self-controlled, and devoted.

Why This Matters

Krishna’s portrait of the perfect devotee — not through ritual or austerity but through universal compassion and equanimity.
